Mishka - the new face of ECO'Neill

Hailing from Bermuda, dropping the new generation of reggae beats, and wearing a brand new line of environmentally friendly surf clothing via O’Neill, MISHKA took some time out of his busy touring schedule to chat with Release List.

Subjects up for discussion include quite a bit of varying topics, but MISHKA proved to be a man of few words…though by all means insightful and — at times — hilarious.  This is a man whose poetry is inspiring, so it’s only sensible that he’s not overly verbose.

1. You’ve probably been asked this a million times already, but how was it working with Willie Nelson on your latest album, “Talk About”?

i actually never met him. we just sent the track to him and he did his part at his studio and he sent it back.

2. You’ve been made the face of surf giant O’Neill’s “ECO’Neill” eco-friendly apparel line.  How much free clothing do you expect to get each year?

about 2000 hats, three pair of jeans, twelve pair of socks, two t shirts, and five million pair of underwear.

3. Do you feel that your name often gets you mistaken for a Russian, or for an apparel line sold on Amazon.com?

no more often [than] for the talking dog on you tube

4. How did you first get in touch with O’Neill?  What brought up the apparel line?

met the ceo at a party. they already had the idea for the eco line, and they thought my vibe fit with it.

5. You are currently on Matthew McConaughey’s record label — j.k. livin’.  My girlfriend worked with him on a movie and said that he’s hotter than Justin Timberlake.  Do you believe this is true?

i’m hotter than both of them

6. Now that you’ve torn up the charts, hit #1 at iTunes, and generally kicked some serious ass with your 4 studio albums thus far, what’s your next goal?

to actually make some money

7. What do you think about musicians who become actors?  Do you want to become an actor in a new wave of surf movies now that you’ve worked with O’Neill?

some people can act, some people can make music, it’s cool if some people can do both. i don’t really have any ambition to be an actor, that being said it seems like actors aren’t getting ripped off as much musicians…. maybe i’ll give it a shot
