On December 13th, video game power metallers POWERGLOVE gave Release List an exclusive interview behind the nightmare that is the Whisky A Go Go (more on why we call it a nightmare below) before hitting the stage with CONDUCTING FROM THE GRAVE and ARSIS.
Nick Avila and Bassil Silver joined us to chat about their turn towards 80s cartoon themes, and their (most likely) future return to video game themes on subsequent albums. They talk about the split recording process, the cutting of the GEM theme song, and the likelihood of lawsuits for all of the copyrights they are stepping on with their name and music (I’m pretty sure they were joking, of course, but if not, I know a good lawyer, guys!!).
The interview’s below, but here’s a little aside: although the interview went extremely well and the boys in Powerglove (and their tour manager, Wes) were awesome, the night did not end will for us Release Listers. The Whisky’s security staff really messed up the show and ultimately threw us out shortly after Powerglove started their set, so we have no idea how well the rest of the show went. We hope it went well, because this is one awesome band, but we’ll have some more commentary on the Whisky’s ridiculousness in a forthcoming article (or two).
Anyway, without further ado:
